THE KITCHEN
France is food and good wine! We have caught onto this and built a kitchen for those who really like preparing food. Cooking food together is a very social activity and, we have taken this into account in designing the heart of Villa Sauternes in order to make it easy for many people to help each other at the same time! Poggenpohl has supplied a beautiful kitchen in white high lustre. The stone slabs are dark granite, with elements of blue tones creating the whole. There are two induction cookers and associated restaurant fans that effectively remove all cooking smells. There is of course also a microwave oven in the kitchen, a normal oven and, something else important to the food lover, i.e. a steam oven, where you can cook fish, poultry or vegetables with good results.
The kitchen also has a well laid-out fridge for normal foods, a separate fridge for vegetables and a large wine/drinks fridge with several temperature zones. In France, people drink rosé wine for lunch, and no rosé wine can be served without the obligatory ice bucket, so the kitchen naturally also has a proper ice machine.
If you like grilling your food, you won’t be disappointed there either. On the terrace, a gas-run Weber grill awaits you, with 6 burners for normal pieces of meat - or why not some gorgeous lobsters…

When lunch or dinner is finished, there are two very quiet dishwashers that are ready to get on with the job.

No lunch or dinner goes down without a proper cup of coffee! Villa Sauternes offers the discriminating coffee lover everything he can dream of. In one part of the kitchen, an espresso machine sits enthroned as a work of art in its own right. Elektra is Italy’s oldest manufacturer of coffee machines for restaurant use. Their machines are considered to be the Rolls Royce of coffee machines. We have chosen a classic model, called “Barlume”. The machine has double “pipes” and double “milk frothers”, and the capacity for 80 cups an hour seems to suit most people. The art of making coffee is a fine art! We are happy to teach this to those who haven’t yet seen the light… |
